Cast your vote in Arbor Day Foundation Poll!

In the past, the people have voted on
America’s national tree, the oak, and now they are invited to take part in voting for
America’s Favorite Cherry Tree! In a collaborative campaign between the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Cherry Blossom Festival, in honor of the Festival's Centennial Celebration, all Americans are invited to cast their vote for America's Favorite Cherry Tree, with the winner announced on April 27, the final day of the
National Cherry Blossom Festival and Arbor Day 2012.
Here is a little bit of history about the significance of the cherry blossom tree in America. In March of 1912 the mayor of Tokyo gave Washington, DC the gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees. Mayor Ozaki donated the trees in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and to also celebrate the continued close relationship between the two nations. The festival celebrates these beautiful trees annually for a two-week celebration attracting tourists from far and wide.
